New Fees
We are planning to introduce some new fees in the following areas:

Planning

  • Open Space Design Checking and Supervision: fee to be charged for checking of plans and inspection of works/handover of Council assets. Proposed fee is consistent with accepted industry standards, and is already charged for engineering assets under the Subdivision Act. This fee has been benchmarked against nine other councils.
  • Secondary Consents – Single Dwelling/Alterations to Single Dwelling: these are for simpler applications that require less time. This new fee is proposed at $300, whereas this would currently cost $550.

Building Permits

  • Swimming Pool Barrier Only: fee designed to encourage existing owners to install a compliant pool barrier. This new fee is proposed at $650, whereas this would currently cost $1,934.
  • Amend Existing Swimming Pool and Space Application: fee to recover costs of administration involved with amending an existing swimming pool or space application.
  • Amend Existing Road Occupation Permit Application: fee to recover costs of administration involved with amending an existing road occupation application.

Cultural Venues

  • Cleaning and Security Fee for Carousel: new fees to recover costs of cleaning and security for Carousel hire. This is consistent with the National Wool Museum.
  • Potato Shed: equipment hire fees for newly acquired equipment.
  • National Wool Museum: school group fees for curriculum-based services provided by trained educators.

City Services

  • Removal of Trees: fee to remove trees based on heights. This is a recovery of costs incurred by the City to carry out this service.
