Leading and Communicating Culture

The value of arts and culture is recognised across many aspects of our lives, individually and collectively. This includes personal health and wellbeing, intellectual development and innovation and placemaking for our city and public spaces.

With rapid growth and an evolving community we recognise the need to take a leadership role, to create space for new ways of imagining, understanding, creating and connecting across our whole region as well as our city centre.

Our vision is inclusive, caring and brave. It aims to support the arts through investing in our arts community, rebuilding and recovering from COVID19, to provide cultural leadership that grounds and defines our cultural identity, enabling all to participate and create a more sustainable City.

This vision is about bringing the arts closer to our everyday experience and celebrating our history and heritage. It is about creativity playing a central role in our future, leading innovation and driving our cultural economy.

What we are already doing:

- Art, Culture and Heritage board and committee representation - providing the opportunity to broadly connect, identify opportunities and develop significant partnerships and collaborations.

- Review and develop a marketing and communications platform to keep our community informed and connected

- Represent the interests of our creative community through the support of state and federal government initiatives, funding programs, and opportunities.

- Be a point of contact for Council on all matters related to arts and culture

- Building evidence and knowledge through cultural mapping, data management and analysis, and embedding an evidenced based practise to inform future strategies and plans.

- Identifying opportunities to partner across our organisation, and across industries.
