Welcome

We are PAWsitively delighted to have you here!

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback to help shape our next Domestic Animal Management Plan (DAMP) 2026 - 29.

The DAMP aims to balance the needs and safety of all public space users, pets, and the environment while assessing the effectiveness of current actions and identifying areas of pet ownership that require further support and City involvement.

Your feedback helps us identify animal-related issues, highlight benefits, pinpoint areas where the community needs more education, and enhance the support provided by our Animal Management team.

Project background

Every four years, under the Domestic Animals Act 1994, Victorian local councils must prepare a plan outlining how it will manage dogs and cats within its municipal boundaries.

The DAMP identifies how the City will:

  • help pets, pet owners and the general community to live harmoniously together
  • protect the environment and local wildlife from the negative impacts of dogs and cats
  • balance the needs of those who own pets with those who do not
  • promote responsible pet ownership
  • address legal issues
  • improve the experience of animal ownership.

How can I leave feedback?

  • Chat to our officers

City officers will be available to chat though your feedback and questions at various locations and times.

See the location site map and details for each session below.

  • Pop up consultations

City officers will be "popping up" at various reserves and trails across our municipality to capture thoughts of residents as they use our popular open spaces. Keep an eye out for us and come say hello!

  • Hardcopy survey

Hardcopies of the survey will be available through the City's customer service centres at Wurriki Nyal, Corio and Drysdale.

Chat to our Officers

Scheduled 2-hour face-to-face consultations will take place across the City to provide our community with the chance to ask questions, talk through issues and gain a better understanding of what we currently do, and may be able to do, going forward.
