Public Art commission for Drysdale Library

Thank you for your interest in this project.

The Drysdale Library redevelopment will include a purpose-built state of the art contemporary library facility with internal and external public meeting places. A large garden/meeting area will surround the building, and the public artwork will be situated at an optimum location within this green site.

Feedback from community has demonstrated enthusiasm for this outdoor space to foster the cultivation of connections between community members of all ages. It is envisioned for the integration of public art within this project will support this community aspiration.

The Drysdale Public Art Commission aims to exemplify the vision for public art as expressed in the City of Greater Geelong's Public Art Strategy and give consideration to the unique qualities of the site, place and culture of the region.

Expression of Interest Process (EOI)

The EOI process opened on 13 June 2022, submission due 18 July, 2022.

Shortlisted artists will be selected and notified by 22 July 2022 and the successful artist will be commissioned in September 2022.

Practical completion of Drysdale Library is expected next year. Artists are invited to consider some themes as a part of preparing a response (Note: the themes are a guide and not to be considered mandatory criteria).
