At the 28 September Council meeting, Council authorised the City to enter into a lease with Ene.Hub Australia Pty Ltd. for parts of Crown land at Geelong Waterfront, Johnstone Park, Kardinia Park, Bellarine Rail Trail, South Barwon Recreation Reserve and Austin Park, Lara.

OVERVIEW

The City of Greater Geelong (City) provides the following notice of its intention to enter into a new lease expiring 31 May 2039 in compliance with section 115 of the Local Government Act 2020 and its Community Engagement policy and invites submissions by any person.

The City is preparing the next stage of Smart Node implementation, activating 49 Nodes throughout the municipality with sites identified on the Crown land reserves being either an extension, replacement or enhancement of existing equipment/infrastructure comprising of an area required only for the size of a pole.

The sites located on Crown land, where the City is appointed Committee of Management (COM):

Existing Smart Node sites:

Western Beach Public Purposes Reserve, Geelong Western Beach Foreshore Reserve, Steampacket Gardens Reserve, Steampacket Place Reserve, Geelong Eastern Beach Public Park.

New Smart Node sites being considered:

Kardinia Park, Johnstone Park, South Barwon Recreation Reserve, Belmont Common, Bellarine Rail Trail and Austin Park.



Submission process

In accordance with section 115 of the Local Government Act 2020 and the City’s Community Engagement Policy, submissions are invited on the proposed lease of the crown land reservations. Any person may make a submission to the Council. All submissions will be considered.

If any person wishes to be heard in support of their submission, they must include in their request to be heard in the written submission. This will entitle them to appear either personally or by a person acting on their behalf, before a Submissions Review Panel. The date, time and location will be advised. Submitters should note that submissions are made available for public inspection upon request.
