Welcome

The City of Greater Geelong is forming a Social Inclusion Action Group (SIAG) — a group of local people who will, together, investigate the drivers of loneliness and isolation in the Greater Geelong Community and decide on the best course of action to overcome them. SIAGs are a collaboration between State and Local Governments as a response to the Royal Commission into the Mental Health System.

Find out more about the background of Social Inclusion Action Groups here.

We are looking for people of all backgrounds to join our group and the questions below reflect this. We are committed to providing a safe and respectful space where your experiences can be shared. We can offer support to participate, including support with accessibility, child-care and transport.

What you'll do as part of SIAG:

  • Receive training and development opportunities
  • Share your insights and experiences
  • Have your say on community projects that increase inclusion and connection

What we’ll ask of you:

  • Participate in fortnightly meetings (meetings will move to monthly from December 2025)
  • Stay up to date on communication with the group
  • Share your thoughts on loneliness and/or social isolation openly and be considerate of other members experiences
  • Commit to at least a year with the group

All members will receive reimbursement for their participation. Renumeration will be discussed with successful applicants.

This group will be supported every step of the way and will work together to create real, lasting change.
