Welcome
The City of Greater Geelong is enhancing its waste management infrastructure with upgrades to the Point Henry Road Waste Transfer Station in Moolap and the existing compost facility on Staceys Road in Anakie.
These upgrades are being proposed due to legislation introduced by the state government for all Victorian councils to provide food and garden organic (FOGO) services to the community by 2030. These improvements will expand our capacity to efficiently process FOGO waste, helping us create a greener, more sustainable community.
The Point Henry Waste Transfer Station will:
- be upgraded with a new FOGO waste decontamination line (installed within the existing shed)
- be able to efficiently sort and handle FOGO waste
- be enhanced by moving decontamination operations indoors
- improve the overall environment for nearby homes and businesses.
The Staceys Road compost facility upgrades will:
- boost its capacity and enable the facility to accept food organic waste alongside the existing garden organic waste
- be equipped to handle the community's growing FOGO needs all the way through to 2042 and beyond
- support a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Have Your Say
The City will be making a submission to the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) to gain approval to upgrade our two food and organic waste facilities in line with the new state government legislation and so that we can better support our region. We are seeking feedback from community to support our submission.
Please complete the short survey below or contact Evan Jones, Project Manager – Waste Services (see contact details on this page) if you would prefer to provide your feedback another way. Feedback closes on Friday 29 November 2024.
Further community engagement will take place for these projects in 2025.
