Earlier this year a range of business and community stakeholders participated in a consultation process to develop a set of Guiding Principles for Geelong's UNESCO City of Design. We are now seeking boarder feedback from the community.

The Guiding Principles highlight three key areas of focus;

• Embrace a Design Mindset,
• Nurture Creative Talent, and
• Foster our Design Culture.

The draft Guiding Principles are now available for review.

Background

In May 2017, the community-led vision ‘Greater Geelong: A Clever and Creative Future’ was launched to guide development in our region.

Embracing this vision, the City applied to join the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Creative Cities Network. Geelong was designated a UNESCO City of Design in November 2017.

A set of Guiding Principles have been developed, with extensive input from key stakeholders, to articulate what we aspire to achieve as a Creative City of Design. They are an invitation for all of us to unlock our creative potential and embrace Geelong's City of Design designation.
