The Victorian Youth Parliament Program is an annual residential program run in partnership with the Geelong YMCA that draws together 20 teams. Each team comprises six young people, aged between 16 and 25 years of age, from across Victoria to advocate for issues that matter to them.
Over five months, participants will learn about the Victorian legislative system, develop advocacy and community leadership skills, and create and debate their own proposed legislation (Bill) on an issue that they are passionate about.
The City of Greater Geelong and the Geelong YMCA are putting together a Geelong team and are looking for young people who would like to make a difference. If you are aged between 16 and 25 and believe you would be a good fit for this program, please register your interest below.
Young people who are selected will be provided with regular mentoring and support from a member of the City's Youth Development Unit and the YMCA throughout the course of the program.
