Young People Speak Up in Unprecedented Numbers

We received an overwhelming 3,790 submissions for our Geelong Youth Survey, with 3,611 responses from young people. This is the largest engagement from this age group in the City's history. The survey also included 128 responses from parents, carers, and community members, and 51 from educational professionals.

Key preliminary findings indicate that the top concerns for young people are school and study pressures, mental health and wellbeing, and financial stress. Cost and transport were major barriers to attending activities in Greater Geelong.
