Hello, we are so glad you are here.

This Hub and the Community Engagement Team are here to help you plan, implement and execute amazing community engagement for your projects!

We have designed this information hub in a way that makes following our processes easy, complements our ENGAGE Hub and ensures we all are delivering the best quality community engagement to our organisation and our community.

Community Engagement at the City

For those who would like to know more about community engagement at the City, our two key guiding documents are the Local Government Act 2020 and our 2026-2030 Community Engagement Policy. A summary of the policy can be found in the Document Library on the right hand side of this page.

  • 4. Open your engagement

    Review process:

    • Approval from Manager/Director is required prior to your HYS page going live. A preview link for your Director will be provided.
    • Your Communications Officer and Engagement Coordinator will review the page to ensure it is written in plain English and is user-friendly.

Engagement activities will be open for at least four weeks (with extensions encouraged if over school holidays or religious holiday periods) unless City Executive Director or legislation requires a shorter timeframe.

  • 5. During your engagement

Once your engagement is open, you will be able to monitor the feedback as the project progresses. The team will show you how to access your reports.

Your engagement lead will also schedule a catch up midway through your project to assess progress, have you reached all cohorts of the community required, determine if any extra promotion is required i.e. additional social media push, among other considerations.

  • Evaluation

Once you’ve completed your engagement reporting and have time to draw breath, we highly recommend you book in ½hr with the Engagement Team to review your engagement:

    • what went well?
    • what could have been done differently or better?
    • how well were the engagement and social equity principles addressed?
    • can a case study be developed & shared with Engagement Champions?
