An upgrade of the main cricket oval to a boutique elite level venue would provide capacity to host Big Bash League and Women’s Big Bash League games, strengthening Geelong’s ability to attract these elite matches.

The indoor and outdoor cricket training facilities will remain in place.

District cricket will remain on the Kardinia Park West Oval, and would remain on the main cricket oval when it is not in use for larger scale events.

The City would look to develop a new regional cricket facility at another location, which would serve as the home of women’s district cricket and an alternative venue for Geelong Cricket Club men’s home matches when the main cricket oval at Kardinia Park is in use for other events.

This would allow for the potential of AFLW matches being played on the oval during the spring and summer months, as well as BBL and WBBL games over the summer months.
