Overview
Proposed Road Discontinuance and Sale of Land at part Kirk Place, Geelong
The Greater Geelong City Council (City) proposes to discontinue and sell a part of Kirk Place (172m2) at the rear of 160-176 Malop Street, Geelong (shown shaded yellow on the plan below), in accordance with section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989.
The Council now invites you to make a submission on the proposed road discontinuance.
If the discontinuance is completed the land will be sold in accordance with section 114 of the Local Government Act 2020 to the owner of 160-176 Malop Street and 2 Powell Place, Geelong. The land will be sold to the adjoining landowner.
At its meeting on 9 December 2025, Council approved the discontinuance of 132m2 of part Powell Place, Geelong to the west of Kirk Place.
This portion of road reserve will be discontinued and sold to the same landowner and consolidated with their property.

In accordance with section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 and Council's Community Engagement Policy, submissions are invited on the proposed discontinuance and sale of part of Kirk Place (172m2) at the rear of 160-176 Malop Street, Geelong (shown shaded purple on plan below), in accordance with section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989. All submissions will be considered.
If any person wishes to be heard in support of their submission, they must include their request to be heard in the written submission. This will entitle them to appear either personally, or by a person acting on their behalf, before a Submissions Review Panel. The date, time and location of the panel hearing will be advised.
Submissions on this matter must be received by 5pm Monday 12 January, 2026.
