Update - 9 October 2021

This engagement period has now closed for evaluation and review. Thank you to everyone for your valuable contribution to this project. An update will be provided after the October Council meeting.

OVERVIEW

The City has developed a draft Long-term Financial Plan (the plan) that projects its financial capacity over the next ten years to continue delivering critical services, infrastructure and facilities, while identifying important new capital investment to support growth in our region.

The plan has been developed in accordance with the requirements under the Local Government Act 2020. Considered to be ‘Generation One’, it is the City's first published Long-term Financial Plan and it builds on the foundations of the 2021-22 to 2024-25 Budget.

The plan was guided by our existing policies, plans and community views. It is underpinned by the objectives and outcomes of Our Community Plan 2021-25, the 30-year community vision Greater Geelong: A Clever and Creative Future, the Social Infrastructure Plan and the Sustainability Framework 2020. Further generations of the plan will be considered as other significant plans are developed and adopted by Council.

So far, we have sought input into the Long-term Financial Plan in several ways, including deliberative community engagement workshops and online surveys. The feedback has helped to shape the draft plan.

We now invite you to take a look at the draft Long-term Financial Plan document, and welcome your feedback. All feedback submitted will be considered in the development of the final document.
