Update - November, 2022
At the 22 November Council meeting, Council authorised the City to enter into a lease with Amplitel for the site located at Mt Anakie, 2392A Ballan Road, Anakie that will end no later than 28 February 2042.
In August 2021, the City of Greater Geelong (City) proposed to lease 1,394m2 of land at the top of Mount Anakie - 2392A Ballan Road, Anakie for the ongoing maintenance and operation of a telecommunications network and service to Telstra Corporation.
Telstra had occupied the site at Mount Anakie since before 1995, when the Greater Geelong Council was appointed Committee of Management control by the then Minister for Environment and Conservation.
On 1 September 2021 following a restructure, Telstra assigned the Mount Anakie Telco Tower to it's subsidiary, Amplitel. To ensure transparency with the community and comply with statutory compliance the City now proposes a 21 year lease to Amplitel for the land at the top of Mount Anakie.
Proposed Leased area.
