The City of Greater Geelong leases 1,394m2 of land to Telstra Corporation Limited at the top of Mount Anakie - 2392A Ballan Road, Anakie - for the ongoing maintenance and operation of a telecommunications network and service. The current lease expired 28 February 2021 and the City has negotiated a new 21 year lease.

Telstra has occupied the site at Mount Anakie since before 1995, when the Greater Geelong Council was appointed Committee of Management control by the then Minister for Environment and Conservation.

Submissions Process

In accordance with section 55 of the Local Government Act 2020 and the City’s Community Engagement Policy, submissions are invited on the proposed lease of 2392A Ballan Road, Anakie. Any person may make a submission to the Council. All submissions will be considered.

If any person wishes to be heard in support of their submission, they must include in their request to be heard in the written submission. This will entitle them to appear either personally or by a person acting on their behalf, before a Submissions Review Panel. The date, time and location will be advised.

Submissions on this matter must be received by 5pm Friday 27 August 2021.
