The City of Greater Geelong (City) provides the following notice of its intention to enter into a new 21-year lease, in compliance with section 115 of the Local Government Act 2020 and its Community Engagement policy, and invites submissions by any person.

Following completion of Stage 1 of the Geelong Waterfront Safe Harbour Precinct Master Plan, the newly built wave attenuator and marina extension requires the City to replace existing leases with the Royal Geelong Yacht Club Inc. The proposed new lease is for a maximum term of 21 years for the existing and additional parts of Crown land reserves being Crown Allotment 18, Section 29, Parish of Corio, Crown Allotment 31, Section 86A, Parish of Corio, Crown Allotment 2026, Parish of Corio and Crown Allotment 2036, Parish of Corio.

The proposed lease area is the area shown within the dotted dark blue lines and subject to an updated survey plan that accurately depicts improvements on the land leased exclusively to the Club and improvements on the land that will be public realm and licensed to the Club. The area shown dotted in green, yellow and aqua show the existing areas leased or licensed to the Club.

Submission process

In accordance with section 115 of the Local Government Act 2020 and the City’s Community Engagement Policy, submissions are invited on the proposed lease to Royal Geelong Yacht Club Inc for the land and marina at 25 Eastern Beach Road, Geelong VIC 3220. Any person may make a submission to the Council. All submissions will be considered.

If any person wishes to be heard in support of their submission, they must include a request to be heard in their written submission. This will entitle them to appear either personally or by a person acting on their behalf, before a Submissions Review Panel. The date, time and location of the panel hearing will be advised. Submitters should note that submissions are made available for public inspection upon request.
