The City have received Black Spot funding from the federal government to deliver a range of road safety treatments along Wilsons Road and Townsend Road, St Albans Park.

The Black Spot program targets roads where crashes are occurring or are at risk of occurring. Black Spot projects improve road safety and help prevent serious injuries and deaths on our roads.

Over the past five years, police have attended the following road incidents:

Wilsons Road:

  • 12 serious injury incidents
  • 9 non-serious incidents

Townsend Road:

  • 11 serious injury incidents
  • 10 non-serious incidents

After reviewing community requests, issues, and concerns in recent years, the City has also assessed each individual crash recorded to identify appropriate safety treatments to address the cause of the incident. As a result, upgrades will be implemented to improve traffic flow and pedestrian movement on Wilsons Road and Townsend Road in St Albans Park. Community feedback has played a key role in shaping designs that address local needs.

We are also seeking Department of Transport & Planning permission to implement a speed reduction to 50km/h along Townsend Road between Boundary Road and Coppards Road.

These traffic calming upgrades will begin on Wilsons Road in late April 2025 and on Townsend Road in early May 2025.
