Welcome

Overview of the Proposed Code

The City is committed to ethical, sustainable and socially responsible procurement.

The City considers its suppliers as partners, and cares about how they do business when providing goods or services, including construction works and services, to the City. A Supplier Code of Conduct (the Code) has been developed to ensure that contracted City services are provided by suppliers that meet a set of minimum ethical standards.

The Code articulates the City’s values and expectations of suppliers, and obtains supplier commitment and support to meet a minimum standard of ethical behaviour in the areas of:

  • integrity;
  • ethics and conduct;
  • conflict of interest;
  • gifts, benefits and hospitality;
  • corporate governance;
  • labour and human rights;
  • health and safety; and
  • environmental management.

Once adopted, the Code will be applicable to all general City contracts, agreements and orders for the supply of goods and services, and construction works and services. The Code requires minimal administrative changes by suppliers as it is consistent with current legislative requirements and complements contemporary procurement practices.

The City will work with its suppliers to meet and exceed minimum expectations as outlined in the Code and continuously strive to improve the standard of its business practices.
