Advance Your Engagement Practice
Following the successful delivery of two in‑house Engagement Essentials training rounds in March and August 2025, 58 employees strengthened their engagement capability. Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with strong demand for deeper, more applied learning.
In response, the Community Engagement team will deliver two advanced, in‑house programs in April and May, 2026:
- Apply Engagement Methods (Monday 26 & Tuesday 27 April)
- Design and Plan Engagement (Monday 26 & Tuesday 27 April)
These programs are open to employees who completed Engagement Essentials in 2025, or - subject to availability -those who have independently completed Engagement Essentials within the past 10 years. Completion of both programs qualifies participants for the Engagement Institute (IAP2A) Certificate of Engagement.
Sessions are scheduled for late April and late May.

Why this matters
This is a significant investment in building organisation‑wide engagement capability. We are seeking participants who will actively apply their learning and help lift engagement practice across their teams and projects.
Participants will commit to:
- becoming an Engagement Champions (if not already one), and
- acting as a first point of contact within their team for informal engagement advice
This approach extends the organisation’s engagement capability and aligns strongly with the rollout of the new Community Engagement Policy, scheduled for Council adoption in May.
Why join?
Build practical capability
Move beyond theory and learn how to confidently design, plan and deliver engagement that achieves meaningful outcomes.
Tailored to our organisation
Delivered in‑house using our own case studies, processes and frameworks, so learning is immediately relevant and practical. The wonderful Martin De Los Rios is coming back to be our facilitator.
Grow your influence
Strengthen your ability to work with communities and stakeholders and support better decision‑making across the organisation.
Gain a recognised credential
Complete both programs and earn the IAP2A Certificate of Engagement, recognised across Australasia.
