Nominations have now closed.
The Youth Parliament Have Your Say page was launched on 26 September and applications closed on 12 October. The link was promoted on CoGG socials, The Youth Development Newsletter and forwarded to The Geelong YMCA (our partner organisation) for promotion.
16 young people aged between 16 and 25 years responded to the Have Your Say page and submitted expressions of interest. The Youth Parliament officer has contacted all the young people who responded individually and provided a PowerPoint presentation/overview of the Youth Parliament program. Interviews have been booked in for all those who wish to pursue with their application. The Youth Parliament team will be finalised in early November 2025
The Have Your Say page was a successful medium in engaging a wide variety of young people. It provided an overview of the Youth Parliament program and an effective portal in which to apply.
The Victorian Youth Parliament Program is an annual program that draws together 20 teams of six young people, aged between 16 and 25 years from across Victoria, to advocate for issues that matter to them.
Over five months, participants will learn about the Victorian legislative system, develop advocacy and community leadership skills, and create and debate their own proposed legislation (Bill) on an issue that they are passionate about.
The City of Greater Geelong and the Geelong Y (YMCA) are putting together a Geelong team and are looking for young people who would like to make a difference. If you are aged between 16 and 25 and believe you would be a good fit for this program, please register your interest below.
