Welcome

Overview

The City of Greater Geelong (City) proposes to discontinue part of Barwon Terrace, South Geelong adjoining the property known as the Landy Field Recreation Reserve (Landy Field) at 230 Swanston St, South Geelong (shown outlined in blue on plan below).

An area of approximately 2,087m² at Landy Field has historically encroached into the Crown Road reserve at Barwon Terrace. This area is currently enclosed within the Landy Field facility by chain mesh fencing, and there will be no change to the existing fence line. Existing Barwon Water and Powercor infrastructure will remain in place and accessible for ongoing maintenance.

The proposed discontinuance of this section of road will be carried out in accordance with Clause 3 of Schedule 10 of the Local Government Act 1989 and by a notice published in the Government Gazette.

By discontinuing this section of the road reserve, the land will revert from Government Road to Unreserved Crown Land with the City appointed as Committee of Management on behalf of the Crown. Ministerial consent is required where a road on Crown Land is proposed to be discontinued.

The land can be converted to Temporary Public Recreation Reserved Crown land, allowing Landy Field to continue operating as it currently does.
