Overview

Proposed road discontinuance and sale of land - De Stefano Drive North Geelong.

The Greater Geelong City Council (City) proposes to discontinue the road known as De Stefano Drive, North Geelong and sell the land within the road reserve (approximately 1,856 sqm) along with the adjacent land (approximately 2,876 sqm), as shown on the map below. This process will be carried out in accordance with Schedule 10(3) and Section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 and Section 114 of the Local Government Act 2020.

Cultura, formerly known as Multicultural Aged Care Services (MACS), is an integrated aged care facility providing supported care, community care, and independent living. On 13 December 2011, Council resolved to sell this land to MACS through a formal resolution and initiated the road discontinuance process. At that time, MACS was provided with an occupancy agreement to authorise development.

Due to legislative changes in the Local Government Act 1989 and 2020, it is recommended that the statutory process be recommenced.

We now invite you to make a submission on the proposed road discontinuance and sale of the land.

No properties (units) occupied by residents adjacent to De Stefano Drive are included in the proposed sale.

Submission details

In accordance with section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 and Council's Community Engagement Policy, submissions are invited on the proposed road discontinuance and sale of land located at De Stefano Drive, North Geelong. All submissions will be considered.

If any person wishes to be heard in support of their submission, they must include their request to be heard in the written submission. This will entitle them to appear either personally, or by a person acting on their behalf, before a Submissions Review Panel. The date, time and location of the panel hearing will be advised.

Submissions on this matter must be received by 5pm on Monday 26 May 2025.
