Update - October, 2021

At the 28 September Council meeting, Council approved the road discontinuance of an unnamed part road reserve, abutting 56-58 Wallington Road, Ocean Grove, and the sale of the land within the discontinued road reserve to the abutting owner of 56-58 Wallington Road, Ocean Grove.

A notice will be published in the Victoria Government Gazette detailing the road discontinuance, and documents will be prepared to complete the sale of the land.


The City has been approached by the property owner of 58 Wallington Road, Ocean Grove, requesting to purchase approximately 36m2 of abutting road reserve.

The property owner also owns 56 Wallington Road, Ocean Grove, and has previously requested to purchase a portion in front of 56 Wallington Road. This was the subject of a previous submissions process which resulted in no submissions being received. The property owner has requested to purchase a larger portion in one transaction.

Proposed road discontinuance and sale abutting 56 - 58 Wallington Road, Ocean Grove.

The Greater Geelong City Council, acting in accordance with section 207B and Clause 3 of Schedule 10 of the Local Government Act 1989 and section 114 of the Local Government Act 2020, proposes to discontinue the road reserve and sell the land which represents part shoulder of the road that abuts 56 - 58 Wallington Road, Ocean Grove to the adjoining property owner.

Submissions Process

In accordance with section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 and Council's Community Engagement Policy, submissions are invited on the proposed discontinuance and sale of land abutting 56 - 58 Wallington Road, Ocean Grove. All submissions will be considered.

If any person wishes to be heard in support of their submission, they include their request to be heard in the written submission. This will entitle them to appear either personally, or by a person acting on their behalf, before a Submissions Review Panel. The date, time and location of any panel hearing will be advised.

Submissions on this matter must be received by 4pm Monday 16 August 2021.
