The City of Greater Geelong, acting in accordance with section 114 of the Local Government Act 2020 and the City's Community Engagement Policy, is seeking community feedback on a proposal to sell the land located at 2-14 Rollins Road, Bell Post Hill known as Certificates of Title volume 8174 folio 395, volume 8231 folio 371, volume 8896 folio 544 and volume 8896 folio 545 as outlined in yellow on the plan below.
This is vacant land zoned for Residential use and is considered surplus to the City's requirements.
The City currently owns four separate Certificates of Title. If sold, these titles may be offered for sale as individual lots. However, a portion of the existing road encroaches into two of these titles, necessitating a subdivision. Once subdivided, this would result in approximately 2,170m2 of vacant land available for potential sale.
In 2021, 2-14 Rollins Road, Bell Post Hill (excluding 8 Rollins Road) was identified as a potential location for social housing during an audit of Council-owned land as part of the City’s Social Housing Plan 2020-2041. The City engaged with the community in 2022 to discuss the use of Council-owned land for social housing. While some community members supported the proposal for this site, others expressed concerns or opposition to its use for social housing.
The Council is seeking community feedback on the proposed sale of this land.
Submission details
We invite community feedback on the proposed sale of this land. The Council will consider all submissions. Should the Council decide to proceed, the land will be offered for sale through a public process. Please note: we are not accepting purchase or development offers at this stage.
If you wish to be heard in support of your submission, please include a request to be heard within your written submission. This will entitle you, or someone acting on your behalf, to appear before a Submissions Review Panel. The date, time and location will be advised.
