The City of Greater Geelong, acting in accordance with section 114 of the Local Government Act 2020 and the City's Community Engagement Policy, is seeking community feedback on a proposal to sell the land located at 5A Dean Street, Belmont known as Certificate of Title volume 8177 folio 594, Reserve 1 on LP012262 and outlined blue on the plan below.
The land previously accommodated a Scout Hall and a Youth Club Hall. The buildings were in disrepair and were removed several years ago. The land is now vacant and measures approximately 4,318m². The land is zoned for Residential use and is considered surplus to the City’s requirements.
In 2021, this site was identified as a potential location for social housing during an audit of Council-owned land as part of the City’s Social Housing Plan 2020-2041. The City engaged with the community in 2022 to discuss the use of Council-owned land for social housing. While some community members supported the proposal for this site, others expressed concerns or opposition to its use for social housing.
The Council is seeking community feedback on the proposed sale of this land.

Submission details
We invite community feedback on the proposed sale of this land. The Council will consider all submissions. Should the Council decide to proceed, the land will be offered for sale through a public process. Please note: we are not accepting purchase or development offers at this stage.
If you wish to be heard in support of your submission, please include a request to be heard within your written submission. This will entitle you, or someone acting on your behalf, to appear before a Submissions Review Panel. The date, time and location will be advised.
