Welcome
The City of Greater Geelong is proposing to name an unnamed laneway in Belmont to Bechervaise Lane.
It is proposed to name the laneway that runs behind the properties known as 22-48 Digby Avenue and 15-33 Clarke Avenue Belmont as Bechervaise Lane, Belmont.
This name has been chosen in honour of Mr John Bechervaise who resided in close proximity and was an Australian writer, photographer, artist and Antarctic Explorer.
As this laneway is navigable by car and foot, it is required to be named for ease in location should an emergency occur.
This road renaming is being completed in accordance with the Naming Rules for Places in Victoria by linking the name to place.
Submissions in regards to this naming are open until 4pm 31 May 2021.
