What this means

Making it easier for people to get to activities, services, and social opportunities through transport that is affordable, reliable, and accessible — especially for people with disability, carers, young people, and those living in priority suburbs.

Why it matters

Transport is one of the biggest barriers to connection. When public transport is unreliable, taxis are too expensive, or options aren’t accessible, people miss out — even when activities are free and welcoming.

SIAG Projects linked to Inclusive and Accessible Transport

Access Enabler Payments

Community organisations can apply for up to $1,000 to cover practical transport supports such as taxi vouchers, minibus hire, or other transport adjustments that help people participate in community activities.

Advocacy on Transport and Connection

SIAG is advocating to council and the wider community on projects that improve transport and connection, including contributing lived‑experience perspectives to transport‑related strategies and reviews.

Neighbourhood Activation (Place‑Based Projects)

By supporting activities in local neighbourhoods and priority suburbs, SIAG reduces reliance on long or complex transport journeys and makes connection more accessible close to home.

People Connectors and Community Ambassadors

People connectors help participants navigate transport options, build confidence to attend activities, and problem‑solve transport barriers alongside practical supports.
