Project Update - April 2022

Thank you to everyone who provided a response to the Waurn Ponds Hotel EGM application.

The hearing date with the Victorian Commission for Gaming and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) was held on 27 October 2020, with a decision handed down on 17 November 2020.

The application was granted subject to specific conditions as listed on the licence.

OVERVIEW

There has been an application made by the Waurn Ponds Management Pty Ltd to increase the number of electronic gaming machines at its Waurn Ponds Hotel venue.

The application
It is proposed that any income gained from the extra machines will fund a range of improvements to the Waurn Ponds Hotel venue at a total estimated cost of $1,000,000 and the ongoing equivalent employment of 3 full time staff.

At its 8 September Ordinary Meeting of Council, Council adopted a recommendation opposing the Waurn Ponds Management Pty Ltd application to increase the number of electronic gaming machines at its Waurn Ponds Hotel venue.

Next steps

Council is required to provide a submission outlining its opposition to this application to the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation by the 19 September 2020.
