The City of Greater Geelong adopted a new Community Engagement Policy in 28 February 2021. This document is reporting the impact and achievements delivered under the policy over the past 12 months (April 2022 - March 2023).

An engaged and passionate community

Engaging with the community ensures that Council listens and makes decisions based on community lived experience and in line with community views and values.

Community feedback allows us to have a greater understanding of diverse points of view, values, concerns and priorities when making decisions. We are very lucky to have an engaged and passionate community with a deep well of knowledge and lived experience.

We would like to share some community engagement highlights from the past 12 months and how we have delivered community engagement under our five key principles.

What has happened in the last 12 months?

Under the guidance of the Local Government Act 2020 community engagement at the City of Greater Geelong saw some valuable advancements in the past 12 months. The City has:
