Expenditure Review Panel - seeking community ideas

Following a successful Notice of Motion raised by Councillor Anthony Aitken, which noted that “ongoing deficits are not sustainable", Council has established a new Council Expenditure Review Panel.

Led by the Finance portfolio holder, Cr Aitken, the panel of councillors will make recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer for expenditure items to be considered when looking to make savings in current and/or future Council budgets in order “to achieve medium to long-term fiscal balance”.

The Panel is inviting community members to submit their cost savings ideas that are modest, non-capital suggestions that could be considered immediately or in upcoming budgets.

Please share your ideas with us below.

If you have submitted an idea for the Expenditure Review Panel to consider, you can also add a brief description (140 characters) about your idea and share it on the storyboard below for others to see.

Or see an idea you like or don't like? Give it the 'thumbs up' or 'thumbs down'

With more Council staff working from home in the future, perhaps Council could rent out space in the new Civic precinct building.
