UPDATES
We now also have an updates section on our HYS landing page. This section is located between the Open and Ongoing projects and is applicable to all projects (open, active and closed).
Updates are a simple but powerful way to let our community know what’s happening on your projects. Keeping them involved along the way helps build buy in and trust.
We recommend including an image “This is where and how your updates will display!”
Check it out, and consider doing an update on your page when you are ready to start the next stage of your engagement, advertising upcoming workshops, presenting findings or just letting your audience know of anything relevant to your project.
The Engagement team is here to help you with your updates.
UPDATES/NEWS FEED
Updates and News Feed feature keeps your audience informed. Anyone who has elected to follow your project will be notified on any ‘updates’ to your page automatically.
An update is a great way to notify your community of:
- what has happened so far,
- thank them for their time,
- demonstrating that their views have been heard
- next steps, etc.
- and also, to be used at the end of the project by attaching an engagement report. Engagement Report templates can be found on the Engage Hub
News feed just adds content to your page – no notification to followers. The Newsfeed block is just a feed filter/content block, it will filter the 'newspage' or 'updates' you publish.
Updates notifies your community that are following your project of any update to the page (you need to do the news feed for this as well).
Learn more about News feeds and Updates on the Learning Centre page.
To add the News Feed tool to a page:
- Click on tools, select News
- Drag the News Feed tool from the toolbox and drop into the target area.
- Name the news feed section – example NEWS or UPDATE
- You can add description or if adding an update - no need for description
- Select the blue ‘Save’ button – bottom right-hand side.
- This has created a space/area on your page for your content.
To Add News Update
To add an update to your page, you need to create the News Feed first. After a News Feed tool has been added to the target page, news updates can be added by:
- Navigate back to your project page – the News feed title should be displayed.
- Select the ‘Add Update’ function on the blue toolbar.
- The ‘Settings’ of the Page will appear.
- Fill out the ‘Details’ of the page
- Title = Engagement Summary
- Description – one liner – keep brief (appears on the landing page)
- Make sure you tick the box on the bottom” send email notification” to enable an email to go out to participants.
- Once ticked there is an option to create our own email (see examples below). After you have published the page, this function is disabled.
- Select on the green ‘Submit’ button.
- This will bring you to the in-page edit mode for the update page where you can add your content by dragging and dropping your tools onto the page. This is same as a normal page - editing, adding tools etc
- Save/submit to workflow.
There is a delay from publishing to your update email going out - approx. 3 hours.
