    FAQ

Why are you asking for community input? And will you really listen to what I want?

The City welcomes your input and views. While we cannot always please everyone it is important that we hear from anyone in the community that wants to have their say on this project. We promise to listen to your views, to report back to you everything that was heard during consultation and how the community input has influenced our decision.

Will this masterplan results in negative environmental impacts on the area?

The City is dedicated to upholding its Environmental Strategy 2020-30 to protecting, enhance and increase biodiversity areas and achieve a net gain of biodiversity within Greater Geelong during the term of this strategy. The core purpose of this process is to prioritise the natural and cultural values of the site

Will this impact on the way I currently use this area?

There is currently no formal access or pathways in the reserve. Public use information will be gathered and analysed as part of this project, with recommendations of use based on technical investigation and advice.

Will there be a bike/walking track implemented?

Development of this masterplan will involve consultation with experts around environmental impacts and recommended routes which will minimise threats. The City’s Shared Trails Strategy will also be referenced, along with planning and transport authorities.

Will there be opportunities to increase cultural heritage and environmental awareness?

This strategy will be developed in partnership with the Wadawurrung and technical experts. Increased engagement and recognition of cultural heritage and environmental awareness will be analysed as part of the strategy.

How can I get involved? Are there volunteering opportunities to help manage this site?

Yes, there are several very passionate volunteering groups who assist the City reserves team. The Friends of Indented Head Woodland is a passionate group who is already vested in the reserve. If you are interested in getting involved you can find their details on the City's website.
