The City is currently undertaking a tree removal program for Kees Road, Lara.

This is being implemented following a tree safety audit in 2021 which recommended the removal of a number of trees. The audit prioritised the tree removals by risk and we have developed the plan to respond to the audit priorities.

All trees that were identified as High Risk were removed last year (2021).

YEAR ONE

This year, Year 1, we will be removing 29 trees that have been identified as Moderate Risk. These works will be completed by June 2022. The removals will create three 'gaps' in the avenue which will be planted according to the tree planting plan. Please review to assist us in choosing the correct tree species.

YEAR TWO

In Year 2 we will be removing or pruning the remaining Moderate Risk trees, these works will be completed in February 2023. We will plant trees in nature strips in the 2023 planting season.

YEAR THREE

In Year 3 we will be removing all the Low risk trees, these works will be completed by June 2024.

YEAR FOUR

In Year 4 we will prune the remaining low risk trees, these works will be completed by February 2025.

YEAR FIVE

In Year 5 we will review the avenue to determine if there are areas that will suit for more proactive removals and replacements to continue the renewal of the avenue. We will communicate with the street again if opportunities are identified.

We will be undertaking annual audits of the street and if the risk status of any tree has changed works will be actioned accordingly.
