During the stage 2 consultation residents expressed a desire to retain significant heritage dwellings and neighbourhood character values.

Post the stage 2 consultation, a heritage assessment was undertaken. The assessment identified several contributory heritage properties including a combination of Victorian, Federation and Inter-war dwellings from the 1850s -1920s. An additional 193 properties are recommended for inclusion within a Heritage Overlay.

We are proposing to extend the existing Heritage Overlay Area known as HO1641 – City South Residential Heritage Area. This is a large area that consists of many different ‘sub precincts’ which represent examples of Victorian, Edwardian and Interwar Housing within South Geelong.

Visit the maps below to view the proposed Heritage Overlay, find out what properties are recommended for inclusion.

To understand more about why each property is recommended for inclusion in a proposed Heritage Overlay please refer to Part 2 South Geelong UDF Heritage Study Feb 2022
