Geelong’s iconic waterfront is set for a fresh wave of food, tourism and entertainment experiences, with the City of Greater Geelong inviting local businesses and entrepreneurs to help revitalise the popular foreshore.

This includes mobile food traders, tourism attractions, and water-based activities.

This initiative aims to expand the mix of experiences on offer, with vendors and activities operating throughout the day and into the evening to enhance the vibrancy and activation of the precinct.

Geelong already attracts strong visitation and economic activity, with 6.3 million people visiting the Geelong and Bellarine region in 2024. These visitors contributed about $1.8 billion to the local economy. The waterfront played a big part, bringing in $428 million from over 970,000 customers. Of this, 35 per cent came from visitors and 65 per cent from local residents.

The Geelong foreshore hosts some of Victoria’s most popular events, such as the Festival of Sails, Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, IRONMAN 70.3 Geelong and the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival. These events bring thousands of visitors each year and help make Geelong known as a top waterfront destination.

Mobile food traders and tourism operators bring public spaces to life. They boost the local economy by encouraging new businesses, supporting local suppliers, creating jobs and attracting visitors. This EOI aims to attract and support quality businesses offering temporary, seasonal and engaging experiences along the Geelong Waterfront.
