Shaping the future of our open spaces together!

The City of Greater Geelong is known for its diverse open space network which is much-loved by our community. The open space network includes parks, gardens, reserves, waterways and linear trails. They are important to livability, community health and well-being, biodiversity, climate resilience and economic activity.

We want your ideas, thoughts and feedback on open spaces in Greater Geelong to help shape our new Open Space Strategy. Your feedback will be used to guide planning for a network of open space that can be enjoyed by all community members for a variety of purposes.

We have many ways for you to provide your thoughts - take our survey or drop a pin on our map. Your children can share their voices too, so make sure they check out our Kids' Hub.

A hard copy of the survey is available by contacting the officer listed on the "Who's listening" section of this page.

Our 30-year Community Vision, Greater Geelong – A Clever and Creative Future, highlights what our community values most about public spaces:
  • Our network of open space, reserves and parks is a key strength of Greater Geelong

  • The Greater Geelong community value green spaces and corridors, including farmland and recreational space, between urban areas

  • The Greater Geelong community value easy access to open space and parkland near home

During our recent Council Plan consultation, young people told us that parks were one of their top places.
