Community engagement now open for the vert and spine ramp

The City is planning for the renewal of two features at Waurn Ponds Skate Park.

Thank you to everyone who provided valuable feedback during our community consultation prior to developing the concept plans shown below. We are now seeking feedback.

We have worked with skate park designers Baseplate to consider a range of potential design options, and concept plans have been developed to ensure the renewed ramps meet the needs of various user groups.

Key highlights of the proposed renewals are:

Feedback from the community continued to highlight the importance of additional improvements and upgrades at Waurn Ponds and other skate parks in the municipality.

This includes:

  • The need for lights at Waurn Ponds to extend usable hours, particularly during winter.
  • The need to cater to all skill levels and disciplines, including delivery of the advanced bowl and provision of mini ramps to cater to beginners.
  • The importance of providing public toilets.
  • BMX riders requesting the provision of box jumps and other elements essential to their sport.

You can explore the 3D plans here.

The image gallery below shows the proposed renewal concepts along with images of the existing ramps.

The Concept Plan document contains the concept plans, 3D images and information about the plan development. An electronic flipbook version is available for review on the right-hand side of this page.
