Welcome
The Dogs in Public Places Policy outlines all the various dog control orders across the City of Greater Geelong (the City). This policy is due for review in 2022.
*Note this does not include land managed by independent land management committees (Barwon Coast and Bellarine Bayside)
By hearing from the community, we hope to learn which dog orders are working well and which ones need refinement, so that we can appropriately meet the competing needs of dog owners, non-dog owners, conservation of the environment and the protection of wildlife.
This review occurs every 4-years in line with Section 26 (2) of the Domestic Animals Act 1994, and is outlined as a key action in Issue 1 of the City's Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025 (DAMP).
The community’s feedback will be reviewed, themed, and used to help us amend or improve specific dog orders and / or the locations in which orders are present.
We encourage you to review the following before you complete the short survey or attend a drop-in session:
- Dogs in Public Places Policy
- Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025 (DAMP) (Issue 1: Dogs in Public Places, pg 8)
- View the interactive Dog Order Map below

Note: As the City is on lead unless otherwise signed, on leash areas are not marked as that is the default rule across the municipality.
