Project Update - June 2023

Council adopted an amended resolution for the Myers Reserve Master Plan at the Tuesday 27 June Council meeting.

The final resolution includes the relocation of the soccer pavilion to the preferred site of the Geelong Rangers Soccer Club between the existing pitch 1 and the proposed new soccer pitch to the west.

Consequently the resolution also supports the removal of mature trees to accommodate the development of the pavilion in the location mentioned above.Tree removal offset costs will be calculated at the time of removal.

The final Myers Reserve Master Plan and Landscape Plan will be uploaded to this page shortly. Follow the page to receive regular updates.

Project Background

The City of Greater Geelong is seeking community feedback on the draft Master Plan for Myers Reserve, Wadawurrung Country, 125 Creamery Road, Bell Post Hill.

Changes over the last decade have highlighted a need to review and refresh the vision for the reserve. The current plan for the reserve was developed in 2005 (see Document Library).

Myers Reserve is located next to Covenant College in Bell Post Hill and has a large range of user groups including lawn bowls, cricket, football, netball and soccer. It also provides open space parkland for recreation opportunities for local residents.

The capacity of Myers Reserve to meet the requirements of the existing sporting user groups as well as the increased demand from the Creamery Road Precinct will become a challenge in the immediate future.

We engaged with the community between 14 February 2022 and 13 March 2022.

We had an amazing response and want to thank everyone for their valuable insights.

From all the feedback, we heard:

  • Our community values the open space at Myers Reserve.
  • More female friendly and accessibility upgrades are required.
  • Playgrounds need to be upgraded.
  • More seating and shade shelters are required.
  • Additional sportsgrounds are needed to cater for current and future demands.

The engagement summary (which can be found in the Document Library section of the page) has been developed to report on the engagement process and findings.

Your feedback is a vital part of our planning, and helps us make decisions to ensure Myers Reserve remains a beautiful, inviting place that meets the needs of the local community.

We'd love you to read the draft Myers Reserve Master Plan and provide your feedback.

Once this stage of the draft master plan engagement closes for feedback, we will collate and consider all responses as we finalise the Myers Reserve Master Plan.

Feedback from the community and any recommendations for change will be presented to Council for consideration in 2023.

The adopted master plan will be published on the City's website, and here on our Have Your Say page. An updated summary report will also be published on this page, which will include what we heard and what changes were made in response to feedback.
