The Social Equity Framework 2022-25 was adopted by Council on 24 May.

The Social Equity Framework is an important Council document that will outline the principles we need to enable every member of the community to:

  • be supported to participate fully;
  • be included; and
  • have the opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

The Social Equity Framework will guide Council to consider the principles of social justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and human rights in every service and program the City delivers, and every space and place that the City manages.

What we heard in 2021

We ran a series of workshops in 2021 with our Advisory Committees and key stakeholders. Their feedback has shaped the draft Social Equity Framework ensuring it can inform and strengthen our planning, resource allocation and delivery of services to all our community members.

What we heard in 2022

From the survey responses and other feedback, people were generally supportive of the framework, but had ideas to improve the document, as well as ideas about its implementation. In response to this feedback, the draft document was reviewed, and include review of:

  • content relating to the various priority groups
  • preferred language
  • document accessibility
  • definitions and data sources; and
  • how the links between City’s role, Council Plans and Strategies, and social justice and equity related concepts are explained.

Additional information can be found in the Engagement Summary in the documents section of this page.
